Great camera for the price, little slow shutter speed Jun 08, 2010
By blake7007 This is a great camera for the price, $43.45. Internal memory allows for more pictures than the standard disposable, and the SD memory card slot allows for even more pictures. I have an old 512 MB card which allows for 700+ pictures. I would say it is on par with the nice cell phone cameras on the iPhone or Blackberry. Don't expect HD photos or anything for this price. If you are able to stay still it takes great pictures even under water. The shutter speed is almost 1 second though, so if you move during this time, the picture will blur. I used it snorkeling and diving. It worked better while diving b/c I was able to stay still longer, and the fish where not swimming away. It was still good for snorkeling. Good thing it was digital so I could try to get the shot several times. Display was good enough to still see under water, and shows the picture you just took long enough to see and try again if needed. Compared to the disposable Kodak I used last time, this was a far better camera, and it is reusable. I did not use the flash though it probably would have helped. It really slows down how quickly you can take another shot, and how long the 2 AAA batteries last. I was able to do 3 one hour dives and a 1 hour snorkel trip without replacing the batteries. I took about 170 pictures. It seems that most under water cameras require you to stay still for about the same amount of time, so unless you want to spend a lot more for a camera, this is a good deal.

Great Camera for the money! Jun 27, 2010
By Gloria Waterworth When I purchased this camera I didn't have high hopes because of the price. But I wanted something waterproof to take on vacation with me. Wow...what a pleasant surprise!!! This was a great little camera. It took great pictures above and below the water!! Used it underwater while snorkeling and it held up great. The pictures were sharp and colorful! I opened and closed the case many times and it never leaked. Great little camera!

great camera for boating and rough conditions Jun 07, 2010
By Ronald E. Goodman

Bought camera about a year ago after messing up my Kodak point and shoot. I use the camera when kayaking and boating and there is no way to keep a camera dry.
My first trip kayaking with the DC-1231 it got submersed a couple times, did not hurt it at all. Takes great digital pictures.
My only problems with it is that the batteries don't last long and it is hard to see the LCD screen in the bright sun. When in the sun I just have to point the camera in the general direction of the subject and hope the picture comes out OK. That is why I give it a 4 star instead of a 5 star.
For the money, this waterproof camera can not be beat!

Digital Underwater for Under $50 Oct 09, 2010
By TF Wanted an Underwater camera for a trip to Hawaii. An underwater case for my camera was $300+. I've used the reusable underwater film camera's they sell in all the stores in Hawaii for $12, but its $25 to develop them. I took a chance on this one and I was satisfied, not delighted but VERY satisfied for the $$ spent.
The screen is hard to see underwater; both snorkeling and scuba diving. The recharge on the flash is slow enough you don't want to use it. The lens speed makes it difficult to take a picture without blurr because you are moving (wave and current action) in the water as you take the picture. Great pictures at 15ft and above for color if you can hold yourself reasonably still. You need a strobe much beyond that they tell me.
I'm going back next year with family and am planning on purchasing each of the family one of these. Its great entertainment to load the pictures on your PC at night and relive your adventure of the day. I probably took 300 pictures and got 50 good ones. I'm ok with that. The movies it took were pretty darn good for the price paid as well. Overall, if you aren't going to spend $300+ on a low end underwater camera or case, this is a GREAT alternative.

Waterproof!! It really works!! Oct 05, 2010
By Miya Liu I bought this camera just for a recent trip to Maui. I liked the idea of having my own underwater digital camera to keep and use over and over instead of purchasing the disposable ones. I must admit I was a bit skeptical because of the awfully low price, but this camera totally did it's job!! It managed to capture some awesome underwater moments!! The controls are much like a 2nd generation digital camera, so it's definitely simple and therefore easy to use. I though it was funny how impressed people were with the cam when they kindly took an "in water" or "near water" pic for us. Upside this this product: Who cares if it gets stolen at the beach at this price, right?! So no worries, go do what you're supposed to do on vacation... RELAX!!!
